The purpose of this guide is to help the users to download, install, and understand the functionality (usage) of the VePS provenance framework. Below, we detail the prerequisite softwares, the VePS installation instructions, use case demonstration, and frequently asked questions.
OS: Unix/Windows
Java Runtime Environment (tested with JRE 6.0)
Apache Tomcat (tested with Tomcat 6.0.18)
Apache Axis2
Be sure that the ‘CATALINA HOME’ environment variable points to the Tomcat installation directory.
Below are the sequential steps necessary to enable the VePS provenance framework:
Download the veps.mar.
Copy the ‘veps.mar’ into your-axis2-location/WEB-INF/modules directory.
Start your Tomcat and go to Axis2 Web admin (http://localhost:8080/axis2/axis2-admin/login).
Click ‘For all Services’ under the ‘Engage Module’ heading.
From the drop-down list select ‘Provenance-Recording-Monitoring.’
Click the ‘Enable’ button and you are done with installing the VePS provenance framework.
Follow the following steps, to enable the Web interface of the VePS provenance framework:
Download the veps-gui.zip.
Extract the ‘veps-gui.zip’ into your-xampp-location/htdocs directory.
Start the XAMPP.
Go to http://localhost/veps-gui/index.php and that’s it.
